NEWS ITEMS ADDS LAURE SUDREAUAS ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY EDITOR
SOUTHPORT, Conn., December 5, 2023 — SmithEllisItems, Inc., the holding company that produces News Items and Political Items, today announced Laure Sudreau as entertainment industry editor.
“‘Laure’s Weekend Movie Pick’ is a very popular feature of News Items. Every Friday, She recommends a great movie, many of which our subscribers have never seen,” said John Ellis, the founder and editor of News Items and Political Items. “She will continue with ‘Weekend Movie Pick’ but will also keep us apprised of important or interesting developments in the global entertainment industry.”
Laure Sudreau is the founder and CEO of Ouroboros Entertainment, LLC whose mission is to finance and produce independent films, primarily by female and/or first time directors. She is an attorney and producer who was born and raised in Paris, France and attended law school in Paris and Los Angeles.
Most recently, Sudreau produced and financed her fourth film “Fairyland” based on the memoir of the same name with Sofia Coppola producing and Andrew Durham directing. “Fairyland” premiered at Sundance in 2023.
In 2016, she produced and financed her first film “Grace” written and directed by Devin Adair. In 2021, she financed and produced two films: a short entitled “The Tip” by Katerina Tana, and a feature by Tony Award-winning actress Joanna Gleason in her directorial debut “The Grotto.”
Sudreau began her entertainment career after her admission to the California Bar, working as an independent producer as well as practicing intellectual property law and entertainment law in various capacities, more notably as Senior Counsel at ABC/Touchstone Television from 1999 to 2002 in legal and business affairs (“Alias,” “Scrubs”).
Sudreau also supports global justice through the Sudreau Global Justice Institute, which she founded with Pepperdine University. She sits on the Board of Councilors of the Thornton School of Music at USC and is a trustee of the Public Theater in New York City.
