A political analyst said the only reason Rep. Jim Jordan got even 200 votes — still short of the required 217 to become the next Speaker of the House — was because of an endorsement by Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump's power and influence can still be felt throughout Congress over three years after he took office — and it was evidenced on Tuesday when he took Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, and "almost made him the Speaker [of the House]," says a political analyst.

"The only reason that Jordan got to where he got to in this first round is because he had Trump's support and because of the 'bullying campaign,' as they called it, to essentially bring the Trump 'base' onto X number of Congressmen so that they would feel it necessary to vote for Jordan," John Ellis told The Mirror US. "Jim Jordan doesn’t have that kind of base. Trump does. Trump took somebody who couldn’t possibly be elected Speaker and almost made him the Speaker."
